TITLE: Team Interpreting
PRESENTERS: Simone Scholl and Chris Peters
Talking about interpreting always includes talking about interpreting teams. Depending on the setting, these can be exclusively Deaf teams, but more often interpreters will be found working in mixed teams of Deaf and hearing interpreters.
In our workshop we would first like to introduce participants to a study we have undertaken to find out which of the team working strategies mentioned in the relevant literature work out for mixed teams and can be found in real interpreting situations.
For that study we have used the video footage of an event interpreted by a mixed team of two hearing and two/three Deaf interpreters. Short clips from these videos will be discussed.
Other problems, which might occur in team-work can be acted out in role play situations by participants and we will evaluate the outcome.
